Lullabies for the Land

  • Berkhamsted Town Hall 196 High Street Berkhamsted, England, HP4 1AD United Kingdom (map)

A collection of ethereal and enraptured lullaby inspired music; traditional ancient & new.

Eleanor Turner (harp) Natalie Klouda (violin) Clare O’Connell (cello)

The purposes of lullabies vary. In some societies they are used to pass down cultural knowledge or tradition. They are also used for the development of communication skills, indication of emotional intent, and most importantly as a sleep aid for infants.

Join us as we explore all of these aspects of the lullaby: an afternoon of soothing, ethereal and surprising music inspired by the lullaby tradition, folk, ancient and new,  arranged and performed by Natalie Klouda, Eleanor Turner and Clare O’Connell.

Music will include pieces from Eleanor Turner’s newly published collection of songs for hope and resilience “Lullabies for the Land” which she has composed and arranged for harp, as well as other works by Jaques Gallot, Nicola Matteis, Francois Couperin, Giovanni Girolamo Kapsberger, Maurice Ravel and Fanny Mendelssohn.
